Over 140 years of specialist experience.

Until 2011 Hansen Protection was part of the Helly-Hansen Sports and Workwear Group, able to look back on more than 140 years of experience as a manufacturer and supplier of marine and safety wear and equipment. The journey began in 1877, with the manufacturing of rainwear and tarpaulins. In 1932 production of lifejackets and marine safety equipment started. The story continues with the launch of the first rescue and survival suits for the offshore oil industry in the North Sea in 1976. In 1995 the introduction of its Integrated Services provided Hansen Protection the basis to build a leading position as the only supplier of such Integrated Services on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, and to become market leader in Europe. In recent years, Hansen Protection has gone through a period of strategic expansion, both organic and through selected acquisitions to broaden its product offerings and strengthen its international distribution. This includes the acquisition of Biardo in the Netherlands in 2014 and Lyngsøe Rainwear in Denmark in 2017
