Many probably know us for our flag-ship products, our complete range of survival suits for the maritime and offshore sectors.

Template Numbers are important!

Template numbers are important to find the right price and get the right fit.

Template numbers give us all the information we need to manufacture a canopy that is identical with the original.

When you place an order it is essential that you provide us with the template number from your old canopy.

In addition to the template number we need to know the type of boat you have, the model and year it was made.

You'll find the template number on a label sewn on the inside of the canopy.

Fabrics and colours

We have two fabric types - Tradtex og Lightex - and many colours.
  • The way we make our canopies and choice of materials are the result of many years’ experience.
  • If a canopy, despite our extensive quality control measures, should nevertheless be subject to manufacturing errors or defects, please contact us.
  • Please note that dark fabrics are prone fading or may change colour when exposed to sun-light owing to the effects of UV-radiation. Such a change is not a defect and not grounds for a complaint.

Tradtex fabric

100% polyacrylamide Dralon

  • Canopies made from this fabric are sewn. In other words, there can be several thousand needle holes along the seams which can give rise to micro leakage.
  • We sew the seams using cotton spun polyester thread. When it gets wet, the cotton swells in the needle holes and forms a seal. This process can take some time and a new hood may at first therefore leak slightly when new.

Tradtex is available in the following colours:

120 Cherry
140 Signal Red
190 Burgundy
324 Orange
530 Petrol
580 Indigo
590 Navy
700 Sand
910 Offwhite
930 Light Grey
980 Charcoal
990 Black

For technical reasons the colours on your screen may not be a true representation of the actual colours. If you are in doubt please contact us for a colour sample.

Lightex fabric

100% polyester, coated inside with polyurethane.

  • Canopies made from this fabric have their seams taped after they have been sewn and does not need to have the thread swell to make a seal.
  • Not all products are avaialable in Lightex.

Lightex is available in the following colours:

910 Offwhite
930 Light Grey
590 Navy
970 Dark Grey
990 Black

For technical reasons the colours on your screen may not be a true representation of the actual colours. If you are in doubt please contact us for a colour sample.

Advice and tips

The canopy shall not:

  • Be cleaned with chemicals.
  • Be centrifuged
  • Be dried quickly or subjected to high temperatures
  • Be pressure hosed
  • Be left in contact with plastic material (e.g. seat cushions) whose colours may bleed or contaminate.
  • Canopies may be hand washed at 30°C using natural and neutral soap (1/25).
  • Use a soft brush on the outside.
  • On the inside use a cloth or sponge so as not to scratch or damage the fabric.
  • A canopy should be washed down regularly with fresh water to remove salt and dirt, etc.
  • Rub sticky zips with a candle to lubricate them
  • When the boat is laid up the canopy must be removed, washed, dried and stored in a warm and dry place.
  • Incorrect care may cause discolouration or mildew.
  • Canopies made from TradTex fabric should be impregnated annually.
Discolouration and mildew occurs under, among others, the following conditions:
  • • When a tarpaulin is draped over the boat without the canopy being removed first.
  • • When the boat is left unused or the canopy is not aired, particularly in periods of inclement or wet weather.
Hansen Protection AS disclaim any responsibility for colour contamination or for discolouration caused by mildew arising from improper use.
